Krosoczka with Eric Orfao, then about four years old, during the time he worked at Camp Sunshine in Maine as a high school student in the early/mid 1990s. Jarrett Krosoczka’s new graphic novel/memoir is his follow-up to his acclaimed 2018 book, “Hey, Kiddo,” in which he wrote about his difficult upbringing. Krosoczka says his experience working with children and young teens at Camp Sunshine taught him valuable lessons about life, death, and hope. In “Sunshine,” his new graphic novel/memoir, Krosoczka describes how he used his drawing to break the ice with a withdrawn young teen, Diego, at a camp for young people battling serious illnesses.
